07 Feb LaSpa
In the north of Estonia, by the sea, the LaSpa hotel welcomes nature lovers who want to take a break for a while. It’s all about relaxing and enjoying the surroundings. Children are not to be outdone. Games room, swimming pool, varied menu, bathrobes for the pool, … We loved our stay. We tell you more, are you coming ?
(Psst… In a hurry? We have summarized it all up using a rating system, right there)
The buildings are a little austere, it’s true. But inside, it’s quite the opposite. You’ll want to curl up on the sofas by the reception desk, sign up for a massage, take a dip in the indoor pool and go for a walk by the sea. Well, that’s for the parents. The girls wanted to spend hours in the playroom, running around the corridors, jumping in the paddling pool and watching the snow fall. We had a week to do all that, and more than once.
Where do we sleep?
We chose to sleep in the beach house, which has recently been renovated and is extremely comfortable, as well as being pretty. Well, the expression might give you the impression that we’re talking about a small two-bedroom house, but it’s the building closest to the sea, two storeys high and with 10 bedrooms per floor. We’re not really in a house, but we have a lovely view of the beach. The rooms are super comfortable. The bed swallowed me up every night. The shower is amazingly efficient (I’d like the same at home, thank you), and the bathroom is well thought out and heated. This is an important detail when you consider that, during our stay, the temperature rose from 0°C to -17°C (felt like -26°C). We didn’t notice the slightest difference in the rooms, cozy cozy cozy!
What do we eat?
There are two restaurants, the simpler one on the ground floor and the more chic one on the ground floor. Children are not allowed upstairs, so we only tried the one downstairs and everything was good. Really good!
Breakfast includes northern classics (smoked fish in marinade, muesli, yoghurt, porridge), savoury (baked tomatoes, beans, bacon, sausages, cold meats) and sweet (pancakes, cakes, jam). So there’s plenty of variety!
What do we do?
You can enjoy the beach and the natural surroundings. We dreamt we’d come across one of the reindeer, as advertised on the road signs, but that’s for another time (but maybe it’s just as well, because we saw at the Tallinn Museum of Natural Sciences that reindeer are very big…). By taking the car, we discovered a small port, went skiing (at the Valgehobusemäe Ski and Recreation centre), took a horse-drawn sleigh ride on the snow (at the Voore stables), …
The hotel is just 40 minutes from Tallinn. So we visited the city, of course, but we also took in Padriorg Castle and the art museum, the Balti Jaama Turg covered market (with its flea market above), tried out the experiments and activities in the Proto indoor playroom, and visited the Natural Science Museum…
In short, it’s a great destination for discovering the great outdoors with children, while staying nice and warm when it gets dark.
